The Scheduler: making Yarbo run on its own

Programs are how you tell Yarbo what to do, on which days, at what time. Yardstick starts them, watches them, and moves from one area to the next. Quiet hours sit over the top and are never crossed.

The short version A program is “run these areas, on these days, at this time”. Yardstick starts it, watches it, and moves on to the next area when one finishes. It only works while Yardstick is running, so it wants a computer that stays on.

Where it lives

Open Scheduler from the links at the top of any page. Everything Yarbo does on its own is on that one page.

The Programs section of the Scheduler, listing three programs with the days they run, their start time, the areas each covers, and buttons to run or skip them.
Programs. Each one shows the days it runs, the time it starts, and the areas it covers in the order it will do them.

Making a program

The New program dialog: a name field, repeat mode, day buttons, start time, and two columns for choosing which areas the program runs and in what order.
New program. The right-hand column is the running order. Drag to change it.

Seeing what is coming

The week ahead: a row per day with yellow bars showing when each scheduled run starts and how long it is expected to take.
The week ahead. Each bar is a run, and its width is how long it should take, measured from your own past jobs rather than guessed.
The Coming up list: the next eight runs with their dates, times, program names and areas.
Coming up. The next eight runs with real dates. If something is not going to happen when you expected, you see it here first.

Quiet hours

Quiet hours override everything else on the page. Yarbo will not start a job inside the window, and if the window begins while it is out working it returns to the dock and stays there.

The Quiet hours section: a switch, a From and To time, and a 24-hour strip showing the quiet window.
Quiet hours. Set once, and it applies to mowing, blowing and snow clearing alike.

When something did not run

Read the Activity log first Every start, finish, pause and refusal is written down in plain words, with the reason. If a program did not run, or stopped early, the answer is almost always already sitting at the bottom of the Scheduler page.
The Activity log: a dated list of scheduler events explaining what started, what finished, and why anything stopped early.
Activity. Written to be read, not parsed.
