Fall Cleanup and Spring Up: changing the cut in steps

Most people change the cutting height in steps: down a little at a time through autumn, back up a little at a time in spring. Fall Cleanup and Spring Up set your zones to each step's height in one go, and mark each zone as it is cut there, so you always know which ones are left.

The short version Open Fall Cleanup from the button at the top of the map page. Choose the height you are now working down to, press Set the remaining zones, and mow as usual. Each zone is marked as it is cut at that height. When they are all done, press Start the next step. Spring Up works the same way, going up.

Where to find it

One of the two screens has a button at the top of the map page, so the season you are in is always one click away.

The button on the map page
Opens Fall Cleanup or Spring Up, whichever you have chosen.
Choosing which one
In Settings, Seasonal heights, pick Fall Cleanup, Spring Up or Neither for the button.

Working through a step

  1. Say where the lawn started

At the top right, Started at is the height the lawn began the season at. Leave it on Whatever each zone was if your zones were at different heights.

  2. Choose this step's height

Under Now working down to (in Spring Up, up to), choose the height for this step.

  3. Pick the zones

Every zone is listed with the height it is set to, the height it was last cut at and when. Untick a zone to leave it out, such as a driveway or a patio. Turn on Mowing zones only to show just the zones you have labeled Lawn Mower in the map editor (a zone's Settings, Labels), so the zones you only blow or plow drop out of the list and the counts.

  4. Set them, then mow

Press Set the remaining zones to send the new height to every ticked zone that is not there yet. Then mow the way you normally do: a plan, a program, or the Yarbo app.

  5. Watch the zones fill in

When the robot finishes mowing a zone at the new height, that zone is marked with the height and the time. The bar at the top counts how many are done and how many are still to do.

  6. Move on to the next step

When every zone is done, press Start the next step. It names the height it will go to.

Good to know

Only mowing counts
A run with the leaf blower or snow blower on is not a cut, so it never marks a zone as done.
Going back
Put all zones back to where they started returns every included zone to its starting height in one go.
Last cut at is the setting, not a measurement
It is the height the zone was set to when it was mowed. The robot does not report the height of its deck.
When your robot is slow to answer
Reading and setting heights goes through Yarbo's cloud, and a robot far from Wi-Fi or busy working can take a while. The page says when it is waiting on your Yarbo, and if it cannot reach it, it shows the copy of your map Yardstick keeps and when it was saved.
More than one robot
Each robot has its own zones and its own progress. Pick the robot at the top of the page.
