Yardstick Anywhere on your Apple Watch

The watch app comes with the iPhone app. There is nothing extra to pair: once your iPhone is paired with your yard, the watch uses that.

Where it lives: Needs the iPhone app, paired Install it from the Watch app on your iPhone
The short version Pair the iPhone app first (see Connect the phone app). Then open the Watch app on your iPhone, find Yardstick Anywhere under Available Apps and tap Install. Open it on the watch with your iPhone nearby.
Part of Premium The Apple Watch app comes with the Premium plan of Yardstick Anywhere, and with every free trial. On Basic, the card in Settings offers the upgrade instead.

Put it on the watch

  1. Pair the iPhone app

The watch gets everything through your iPhone, so the iPhone app must be installed and paired with your yard first. How to pair it.

  2. Install it on the watch

On your iPhone, open Apple's Watch app and scroll down to Available Apps. Tap Install next to Yardstick Anywhere. If your watch installs apps by itself, it may already be there.

  3. Open it on the watch

Keep your iPhone nearby the first time. The watch says Waiting for the iPhone for a moment, then shows your robot.

What it shows, and what you can do

Your robot at a glance
What it is doing (mowing, heading home, on the dock, charging, paused, needs a hand), how far through the job it is, when it should be home, and its battery.
Buttons
Pause, Resume, Stop and Bring it home. When the robot has stopped because it needs a hand, I cleared it, resume sends it on again once you have dealt with it.
On the watch face
Add a Yardstick Anywhere complication to your watch face to see your robot without opening the app. During a job, the progress card also appears in the Smart Stack (watchOS 11 and later).
More than one robot
Each robot has its own page. Tapping a complication or the Smart Stack card opens that robot.

If it does not work

The watch says "The watch uses the iPhone's pairing"

The iPhone app is not paired yet. Open Yardstick Anywhere on your iPhone and pair it, then tap Try again on the watch.

The watch says "iPhone not reachable" or "Waiting for the iPhone"

Bring the iPhone close, make sure Bluetooth is on, and open Yardstick Anywhere on the iPhone once. Then tap Try again.

It shows "Updated 12 min ago" or "Last seen"

The watch is showing the last thing it heard. It refreshes when it can reach your iPhone.
